Auto A/C System Failures
Your vehicle's air conditioner circulates refrigerant to absorb and dissipate heat. To accomplish this, the refrigerant is changed back and forth between liquid and gas states. A compressor is situated between low and high-pressure sides of the A/C system, squeezing the refrigerant into a more dense form. The condenser cools the refrigerant, allowing it to change into a liquid so that it can absorb and move heat. Next, the dryer removes excess water from the refrigerant, sending it on through a valve or tube to the evaporator. Cool air enters your passenger cabin, and the refrigerant returns to gas to start the process. Although various minor problems can occur, the biggest failure that disrupts the cooling process is compressor failure. If this component stops working, you won't get a supply of cool air. Another potential issue is a bad blower. This part helps cool the liquid refrigerant so that heat is dissipated. A failure means that heat is not dealt with effectively, preventing cool cabin air. Other serious issues include a bad condenser or evaporator.
